Miss Kate

So this is my new blog. I figure if people are always telling me that in my life there's never a dull moment, chances are its not as ordinary as I think it is. I said when I was 15 I wanted to experience it all, and well, I surely haven't experienced it all, but I've experienced a bunch. Ordinary or not, it's been a ride and lets just say it's not one I'm about to get off anytime soon:)
Lithe Method. It is the most invigorating workout I have ever done. A$$ kicking, ladies only, addiction.

One of my best friends, Jennie, published her first children’s book. This is it. Pretty amazing when you think about it. Kudos Jennie. Your talent inspires me!

Recap

Hey Hey Hey. So its been some time since I blogged last Spring and lots have happened!

I’m back in the hood,  ( Philadelphia that is) and it’s good to be back.

My summer was AWESOME, I am working with an amazing group at Barneys, studying Film and Media, and have met some really amazing people since I landed back here. Liv is cheerleader by fall, BBALL player by winter and just celebrated her 8th Birthday. Life. Is. Good. Check out some of the recent pics.

The City of Brotherly Love.
Also the city that has produced its own dialect. You’s, ain’t, beggle, tails (aka towels), ewt ( aka out), somethin’, nuttin’, WaRshington, Iggles, and the list goes on……that being said, I grew up in Philadelphia. As a kid, I thought it was the greatest city in the world and felt so privileged to live here. I was always a city girl at heart, and the cultural diversity was something I appreciated even from an early age. Where else can you experience history, cheesesteaks, TastyKakes, amazing authentic Italian food, The Mummers, Pork Roll, Tony Lukes, and Chickies and Petes? Ok so I’m mentioning a lot of food here, but hey, we natives have a healthy appetite. Lets not forget an amazing art museum, fabulous restaurants, deep rooted neighborhoods, outstanding colleges and universities and THE PHILLIES AND THE EAGLES!!!!!!!!! The more people I meet in my travels, I realize how home grown and rooted east coasters can be, most especially PHILADELPHIA peeps:)
I also never realized how bad of a rap Philly had until I moved to Arizona. Its one thing when you bust on your own people or hometown, but I must say the “Philly” ( as west-coasters eloquently describe it!!) in me unleashes when people start hating on the Illadelph:)  Good, bad, blue collared, obnoxious fans or not, it’s real and that’s good enough for me:)

Maxx

So every morning I go to Coffee Bean and get my medium coffee with vanilla powder at the drive thru. Coffee Bean happens to be my favorite coffee EVER. It is one of the few things I will truly miss about being out west..I’ll get into the other things at some point. So back to my morning routine..I get to the window and there is Maxx. He is probably the most adorably pleasant kid you could see at 8 am when you’re still not quite awake yet.  Most people at Starbucks, Coffee Bean, ( NOT DUNKIN DONUTS, although I do like their coffee)  etc. are unusually pleasant in the morning while we stare at them with 10 heads wondering how they could be so perky, but Maxx is the best.  So Thanks Maxx for being a nice start to my morning, I’ll miss you when I’m back in Philly ordering my coffee from well, NOT a Coffee Bean:(

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” - Dr. Suess

—Leave it to Dr. Suess to have one of the most requoted quotes of all time.
I love this quote because after all, you can only be the best YOU that you can be when you have the right people in your life to accept and support you for all that you are. Yeah we all need a little kick in the ass once in awhile, and a bit of self reflection on decisions we’ve made, or things we’ve said, but the people in your life that matter help you and support you all the same.

These are just some random moments over the last 7 months:)

Watch The Throne Tour. Philly 2011.

This is my favorite movie and clip of all time.

Maybe because it came out at a very appropriate time in my life …I saw it three times at the movie theatre in Hoboken where I lived off and on from 2000-2003. I hadn’t given props to a film like that since Jack and Rose went down:) Anyways, I say appropriate because at that point in my life I felt like a free spirit in every sense of the words. I think somehwere in my eager mind, I really was, Almost Famous.
